The United Nations Association in Canada (UNA-Canada) is a national charitable organization established in 1946. Our mandate is to engage the Canadian public in the work of the United Nations and the critical international issues which affect us all. We accomplish our goals through a dynamic staff team at the National Office and a network of volunteer-driven regional branches.

Activities include conferences, development of international standards and laws, and management of and funding of projects on topics ranging from water quality to the information society.

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-HABITAT, is the United Nations agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.

United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)
UNICEF is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to advocate for the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential.

 United Nations Millennium Campaign
The Millennium Campaign informs, inspires and encourages people’s involvement and action for the realization of the Millennium Development Goals. An initiative of the United Nations, the Campaign supports citizens’ efforts to hold their government to account for the Millennium promise.

 United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, helps developing countries find solutions to their population problems. UNFPA began operations
in 1969. It is the largest international source of population assistance. About a quarter of all population assistance from donor nations to developing countries is channeled through UNFPA.

 United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)
As the food aid arm of the UN, WFP uses its food to
meet emergency needs and support economic & social development. The Agency also provides the logistics support necessary to get food aid to the right people at the right time and in the right place.

 UNAIDS
The global mission of UNAIDS as the main advocate for worldwide action against HIV/AIDS is to lead, strengthen and support an expanded response to the epidemic. This response has four goals:to prevent the spread of HIV, to provide care and support for those infected and affected by the disease, to reduce the vulnerability of individuals and communities to HIV/AIDS, and to alleviate the socioeconomic and human impact of the epidemic.

 UN Framework Convention on Climate Change
Over a decade ago, most countries joined an international treaty -- the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) -- to begin to consider what can be done to reduce global warming and to cope with whatever temperature increases are inevitable.

International Labour Organization (ILO)
TakingITGlobal and ILO are collaborating on the "Supporting Children's Rights through Education, Arts, and Media" (SCREAM) campaign. Through the SCREAM process, young people develop a strong sense of moral outrage at the exploitation inflicted upon themselves and/or their peers in other countries.
